The marshmallow Schneesturm or garden jasmine is a vigorous, fast-growing flowering shrub. A sapling is capable of annual growth of up to 3 meters. Externally, the plant resembles a fountain due to weeping shoots falling on the outside of the crown. When the bush begins to bloom, the marshmallow Shneeshturm literally looks like a cloud. White double flowers, reaching a diameter of 5 cm, gather in large inflorescences, inflorescences form a white blanket that covers the entire bush.

Planting a plant

You can plant the Shneeshturm mock-up by seeds or immediately into the open ground. The choice of planting type is influenced by the variety of marshmallow Shneeshturm, the description of which is important to study in advance.

Seed planting

Sowing seeds of garden jasmine is carried out in spring or autumn. The plant has good winter hardiness with proper care.

It is better to start autumn planting from mid-October to early November.

  • about 2 months before planting, the seeds are packed in a plastic bag and cleaned in the vegetable section of the refrigerator;
  • pre-mixed with sand seeds of mock orange are evenly distributed on the soil and covered with compost or covered with spruce branches;
  • in the spring, after the snow has completely melted, the winter shelter is removed.

Important! Sprouted seeds must hide from exposure to sunlight. This can be done with agrofibre or cloth.

Spring sowing should begin around March. Seeds also need to be prepared. To do this, the seeds of the marshmallow of Schneesturm coronaria are placed in a small bag, which is dropped into room temperature water for about 3 hours, then in sawdust or wet peat for 2-3 days. After that, the seeds must be removed and slightly dried. Also:

  • before sowing the seeds must be mixed with sand;
  • seeds are sown in a container with a specially prepared mixture consisting of peat, compost and leaf soil in a ratio of 2: 1: 1 or turf and peat in a ratio of one to one;
  • sowing is covered with a layer of sand about 3 centimeters thick;
  • the substrate must be sprayed and covered with a film or glass.

Important! The greenhouse needs to be ventilated daily, and the soil to be sprayed.

  • the first shoots appear in 10-12 days. They must be sprayed immediately after the appearance with a light pink solution of potassium permanganate;
  • for shoots it is necessary to continue leaving - to air and spray;
  • start diving shoots after the appearance of the fourth leaf. Diving is carried out at a distance of 3-4 cm between plants;
  • seedlings are transplanted into open ground in late May and early June;
  • in October, seedlings must be mulched with peat 10 cm;
  • next spring, you need to completely cut off the entire aerial part, this will increase the bushiness of the mock-up;
  • Strengthened seedlings are transplanted in the fall to a permanent place;
  • for winter shoots must be covered with compost.

Planting seedlings in open ground

Chubushnik snowblow - description, landing and care

Landing in the open ground begins with the selection of a sufficiently sunny place. There are no strict requirements for the soil, but it is better if it is fertile, in a well-drained area.

  • the pit is prepared two weeks before the actual landing. The optimal pit size is 50x50 cm;
  • on heavy soils, a drainage is first placed in the pit, which is closed by a soil mixture consisting of leaf soil, humus and sand in a ratio of 3: 1: 2;
  • the Shneeshturm mock-up must be placed by deepening a maximum of 3 cm so as not to rot;
  • the trunk circle must be mulched, water the plant abundantly;
  • garden jasmine is planted at a distance of not less than half a meter from other plants.

How to care for Chubushnik Schnejsturm

Watering

In hot summers, the Shnistrum mock-ups need active care, which consists in watering at least every 2 days. With improper care, the leaves of the plant will immediately go down. Pour at least 2 buckets of water into the root zone.

Top dressing

Lemuana mocker - description, landing and care

Every year, the plant must be fed. A bucket of slurry is used for each bush. In the second year, it is necessary to feed the mock nut with mineral fertilizers - to dissolve 30 g of superphosphate in 10 liters of water, 15 g of sulfuric potassium and urea each. This amount of fertilizer is enough for a maximum of 2 bushes.

Important! When the mock nut finishes blooming, it is fed with superphosphate and potassium sulfate. Other top dressings of Schneesturm moths are also possible, the description and dosage of which is indicated on the package of the preparations.

Pruning

Pruning garden jasmine must be done immediately after it finishes blooming. All branches that have dried inflorescences are removed, enhancing the development of young shoots. In the autumn, thickening branches are removed and a crown is formed. Damaged and weak shoots are also cut.

If you manage to cut off all frail branches from the old bush in early spring, and shorten the stronger ones to 30 cm, during sap flow you can get young shoots that will return the bush to life and form a crown in a year.

Damaged and weak shoots are also cut

Breeding methods

Chubushnik virgin - description, landing and care

The marshmallow Shneeshturm propagates by conventional garden methods:

  • seeds - it is important to remember that the seeds of hybrids or garden forms are not suitable for reproduction, you should choose another, more suitable option;
  • cuttings - cuttings for propagation are used both green and lignified;
  • bends - the best time for reproduction - the end of April-beginning of May;
  • division - the bush is divided in late autumn or spring until the leaves appear.

Cuttings for propagation are used as green

Diseases and Pests

Chubushnik is ill mainly due to improper care. It is mainly affected by gray rot and septorious spotting. Of the pests, weevils, aphids and spider mites can choose a plant. To prevent diseases and pests, the plant is recommended to carry out prophylaxis in the form of timely spraying with insecticides.

Winter preparations

Rare varieties of mock-ups do not tolerate winter. Others, for example, terry marshmallow Shneeshturm, are distinguished by excellent frost resistance. In addition, there is no need to insulate frost-resistant varieties for the winter.

Important! In severe frosts, freezing of the upper part may occur, but the plant will quickly form radical buds and shoots. Therefore, when preparing a mock up for winter, it is important to protect the root system. Simply cover the near-stem circle with dry grass or peat, and remove the shelter in the spring.

The use of mock-up in landscape design

Using the Shneeshturm mock-up in landscape design, it is important to consider the plant variety. Typically, the mock-up is placed in the form of hedges or in separate compositions on the lawn. The white sprawling bush of garden jasmine looks impressive against the background of brick buildings. Lower grades are used for rock gardens or rockeries. Very profitable mock up looks at ponds, and in modular gardens. When planning a mock up, it must be taken into account that its proximity does not always favorably affect some plants. The bush can suppress fruit plants, but it is adjacent to blooming - lilac or roses.
